Do you like Sonos wireless speakers? If you’re a Sonos fan, you probably have several of the speakers throughout the house. You may have a Sonos PLAY: 3 in the bedroom, a pair of Play: 1 speakers in the den, a Sonos Playbar in the living room and maybe a few more spread around various rooms. As an audio system, Sonos makes it very easy to get music all over the house. One thing Sonos doen’t do easily though, is attach to things.

OK, maybe that’s not entirely fair. Most Sonos products include screw ports for mounting hardware, but Sonos speakers are uniquely shaped, and due to the built-in wireless technology and amplifies, are heavy for their size compared to plain-old passive speakers. That, and the fact that Sonos speakers have a look that many people want to show off, it’s important that the accessories, i.e. the speaker stands and mounts, be complimentary, and not merely flat surfaces to plop the speakers.

With that in mind, here’s a rundown of some of the accessories for Sonos speakers you can get from companies that aren’t Sonos.

If you have Sonos Play: 1 or Play: 3 speakers, and you don’t have a shelf to put them on, then you need either speaker stands or wall mounts.

sanus WSS2_B_PLAY1_FLThese Sanus WSS2 speakers stands were designed specifically for those two models of Sonos wireless speakers. The stands come with brackets designed to fit either speaker, and the base is weighted to give the stands balance and stability, even with the heavier Play:3 speaker. Speaking of the Play:3, because it’s designed to work either as a single unit or in a stereo pair, Sanus designed the bracket so the speaker can be mounted horizontally or vertically, at the proper level for sound dispersion, depending on your use. The brackets also include a cutout for both the power cable and an Ethernet cable, in case you use a wired, rather than a wireless connection. The stands come with carpet spikes and rubber feet. $120/pr

flexson sonos wall mount bracketIf you prefer a wall mount for you speakers, Flexson offers tilt/swivel mounts for the Sonos Play:1 or Play:3 speakers. They even offer a wall mount for the Sonos subwoofer (though most people will be happy just placing that on the floor). The only complication with mounting a Sonos speaker on the wall is the necessity for an electrical outlet to be nearby. The Play:1 wall mounts costs $45 each. The Play:3 wall mount is $60, and the sub mount is $90.

Leon, a company known for its custom-built, high-end speakers, offers a solution for people who want the Sonos Playbar soundbar, but don’t want it sticking out on their wall. The ToneCase TcFIT mounts on the TV and includes a cage to conceal the Playbar and power cord, creating an elegant look whether the TV is flush to the wall or articulated. As it does for its own custom-made speakers, Leon will create a custom grill for the TcFIT that matches the precise width of the TV, ensuring a flush fit and an aesthetic design that blends the TV into the display. The Leon TcFIT with the grill is $595

Leon also offers ToneCase Hardwood Cabinets for Sonos PLAY speakers, from Leon subsidiary Media Décor. The cabinets make any Sonos speaker – PLAY:1, PLAY:3 and PLAY:5 – look like any traditional shelf speaker, encased in hardwood and finished with a standard black grill. The new ToneCase Tc1S, Tc3S and Tc5S are handcrafted from sold white oak or black walnut (custom finishes are available), and they’re designed to leave access for speaker controls and wire management. According to Leon, the ToneCase cabinets also make the Sonos speakers sound better due to the acoustic properties of the cases themselves.

Finally, what if you love the features and versatility of Sonos speakers, but don’t care for the limited color choices they come in (black, gray or white, depending on the model). Flexson has a solution to let you personalize the look of your Sonos speakers.

flexson sonos skins

The company calls them “Skins,” and they’re available for all the Sonos speakers, including the subwoofer. The vinyl skins, available in red, green, blue, yellow and purple, can be applied and removed without leaving any residue. Color skins start at $29 for the Play:1 and go up from there.
